Returning To The “Press”

Well, it’s been a little while since I posted here, mainly because life kinda gets in the way of other things,  but as always, photography is an ongoing staple in my life,  and I don’t think that will EVER change.

So, with that in mind,  here is a selection of my more recent shots……..

I was on my hands and knees in my dressing gown first thing in the morning, I dread to think what any neighbours might have thought had they looked out of thier window!

Taken as part of a set to try out new techniques

One evening whilst walking home with my girls through a local park….

We were driving home after being picked up from work a few weeks ago, we rounded a corner heading towards Highridge Common ( in Bishopsworth, Bristol) and was greeted by this scene, so I had to capture it to share.

I was sat with my family one evening a couple of months ago watching TV, when my daughter ( aged 2 years) pointed at the window and said ” LOOK DADDY, SKY!! “, here is the result!

Whilst on Felton Common ( Adjacent to Bristol International Airport) one evening not long ago, to satisfy my youngest daughters recent obsession with aeroplanes, I had to go back to the car to grab the camera that I’d forgotten, on my way back to the girls I saw this image and thought it was a lovely image of “Mummy And Baby”

There are MANY more pictures to come.

A Sunday In Castle Park

My friend Lewis Clark is about to go on a European Tour with his fellow musicians Nick Burrows ( Double Bassist)  And Gianni Cosso ( Guitarist) ,  and their manager has asked for some publicity shots, so, on a Sunday afternoon,
( The day after Bristol Gay Pride, no really, I watched a small army of Volunteers sifting through and picking up a veritable mountain of Crap left behind the day before! )
Nick, Lewis, Gianni and Myself met on Bristol Bridge just outside Bristol City Centre to try and come up with some viable, usable shots of them all.

I was told when I was asked to take the photos, that some of the shots would appear in ( around)  4 music magazines, and hopefully promo posters.

These are the few photos,  of the 200+ photos I took that I thought were usable…….

These were a selection of the best of the pictures I took.

Each of these photos were edited in 2 to 4 ways in order to give Lewis and Co plenty to choose from, and as he was after a retro/old/60’s style, I think I achieved the required effect.

Birds

Here in Great Britain we are lucky to have a wide range of bird life………

……Here are a selection I have managed to photograph………

The Shoe Tree

Every now and then, when wandering through life, one comes across something that defies reason, discombobulates and make one question whether what one person sees as strange, is in fact a situation that would appear more common if the observer were to look closer, pay attention more, or just allow thoughts of convention to slip silently to one side more often, to let the mind realise what we see on a daily basis and yet never regard deeply enough to appreciate ……………

……This picture is the epitome of the aforementioned situation, I took it after pick my daughter up last Sunday ( Easter Sunday )………..

I have no idea why this image struck me as important, but it was obviously important enough to record…….

What do you think? What does it say to you ?

My Own Personal Oompah-Lumpah

image

Last Sunday ( 28/03/15 ) was my eldest daughters 4th birthday, it was decided that she would have a fancy dress party……..

………Now Bella isn’t your Run-Of-The-Mill four year old, she is way above the intellectual level of most in her class ( she is in a nursery class ), and her choices of fancy dress are varied………

……….On World Book Day, while her classmates all seemed to pick Marvel or Disney characters, Bella chose to be Charlie Bucket from Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory………

………And as you can plainly see, her choice of costume followed on the theme for her birthday……..

The Secret Stream

image

In the dip between two hills here in Bishopsworth there is a small aging stone wall……….

………..to the untrained eye it would appear to be an extension of of a garden wall……..

…….if one was to venture a peek over the wall and take in the scene that would greet you, breath in the aroma of nature, the trees, shrubs, colours, running water………….

……..but to be honest, I’d rather leave it as a secret, that way, it may just remain as pretty and unspoilt as you see it here , what do you think !?
